DEPUTY Premier Prue Car MP, Penrith City Mayor Councillor Todd Carney and State MP for Penrith Karen McKeown OAM joined with Nepean Business Park (NBP) Chairman Bruce Baudinet to officially opened the $2 billion site in Lugard Street on Monday morning.
New businesses will soon open in the first stages of land released in the Park, which ultimately will create more than 1,400 local jobs, house hundreds of new enterprises and contribute $500 million annually to the local economy. The NBP will also provide a public walkway, connecting the Great River Walk, cycle paths and other community amenities.
Mr Baudinet said, “The project transcends the traditional industrial model, establishing a supported business ecosystem that integrates the Nepean Riverfront. By extending the Great River Walk and creating immersive spaces that celebrate the natural landscape, we allow workers to connect with nature throughout their day. This fosters a culture of collaboration and community, instilling a genuine sense of pride in the workplace”.
Mr Baudinet expressed his pride in seeing local firms prepare to occupy the site. He noted that the activation of these businesses signalled a significant milestone for the project, driving sustained employment growth and fuelling long-term economic activity throughout the Penrith region.
“Nepean Business Park will provide thousands of local jobs, so local residents can spend more time with their families and less time in traffic.” he said.

“The first buildings, comprising 64 strata industrial units called ‘The Depot’, are already under construction.
“This will be a game-changer for our region, and it demonstrates why we need to plan ahead for the future of Western Sydney,” Ms Car said. “We are living in one of the fastest growing regions in the state, and this investment unlocks the expert jobs and economic opportunities for residents, close to home. I look forward to seeing this site come to life and the new opportunities it brings for our community for generations to come.”

Ms McKeown said “This development is a major win for Penrith, creating new jobs, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our region’s economic future. I’m proud to support an initiative that will deliver long-term opportunities and enhanced amenities for our growing Penrith community.”
Describing the Nepean Business Park as an ‘exciting project’, Mr Baudinet said he’d been “delighted with the amazing level of local support from business, community, and political leaders. We are proud to be delivering our vision of a place that will power Penrith’s economy, support its people, and connect to the natural beauty of this river city.”
