FIJI Airways has announced a major expansion of its Australian network with the launch of new direct flights between Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) and Nadi, Fiji (NAN), with introductory fares on sale now ahead of the inaugural service on Friday, 19 March 2027.
The announcement comes as Fiji has never been more popular with Australian travellers. Fiji has just broken the one million visitor mark for a 12-month period for the first time in its history, and Fiji Airways has come off the back of a record-breaking July – underscoring just how strong demand has become and making this the ideal time to give Western Sydney travellers an easier way to reach Fiji.
Scheduled to operate three times per week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays with the modern 2-class Boeing 737 MAX 8, the new service will give Australians an additional direct connection to Fiji, along with seamless onward travel across Fiji Airways’ growing international network in the Pacific, Asia and North America.
Fiji Airways is the fourth international carrier to announce services from Western Sydney International and the only airline to offer direct flights from WSI to Fiji, connecting travellers to the nation’s 333 islands. The new route will add more than 53,000 seats annually between the two destinations.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah, said “The new Nadi – Western Sydney route is a natural next step for Fiji Airways. It is one of the fastest-growing regions in New South Wales, and the continued investment and development in the area makes it an increasingly important gateway for Australia. It’s also home to one of the largest Pacific Islander communities in the country, including a significant Fijian population, so this route is about more than tourism and trade, it’s about making it easier for our own diaspora to stay connected to family and home.”
The schedule is ideally timed to facilitate long weekend getaways from both Sydney and Fiji, complementing Fiji Airways existing double-daily services between Kingsford Smith Airport and Nadi. Following the launch of WSI, Fiji Airways will fly up to three times daily between Fiji and the Greater Sydney region, providing a greater choice of flight times than any other carrier. The early morning arrival of the flight into Nadi will allow for seamless connections onto boat and ferry services to the Yasawa and Mamanuca islands. The flight times also connect efficiently onto Tonga and Samoa flights in both directions.
“Australia is our largest source market, and this new direct service further strengthens connectivity, creating new opportunities for tourism, trade and business travel while making Fiji more accessible than ever. We can’t wait to welcome more Australians onboard the world’s happiest airline” said Scurrah.

Western Sydney Airport CEO Simon Hickey says, “We’re excited to have Fiji Airways join Western Sydney International as the countdown continues to welcome our inaugural passengers in less than 60 days’ time. Western Sydney is one of the most diverse and rapidly growing regions in the nation, which includes more than 70 per cent of our global city’s Fijian population. We’re delighted to be delivering a new, seamless service for them to connect with family and friends, while also giving tourists more choice and flexibility to visit Fiji and explore everything the warm, welcoming leisure destination has to offer.”
As well as increased capacity to Fiji, the new service enhances inbound travel to Western Sydney, providing Fijians and international visitors with a direct and effortless way to reach the region.
Western Sydney becomes Fiji Airways’ newest Australian destination, giving the airline a strong competitive advantage in meeting the region’s accelerating travel demand.
