PENRITH City Council is inviting residents to recycle responsibly with a free Electronic Waste Drop-off Event on Saturday 7 March, from 9am to 3:30pm at The Kingsway Playing Fields car park, Werrington.
Residents are encouraged to bring unwanted, broken or outdated electronics in the boot of their car or trailer for safe, environmentally responsible disposal.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said this annual event reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to reducing waste and recovering valuable resources.
“E-waste continues to rise across Australia, and events like this give our community an easy way to ensure old electronics are handled properly,” Cr Carney said.
“By recycling these items, we prevent harmful materials from entering landfill and recover components that can be transformed into new products.”
Since its launch in 2011, Council’s e-waste drop-off days have diverted more than 937 tonnes of electronic waste from landfill, demonstrating the community’s strong commitment to responsible recycling.
On the day, Council will accept televisions, computers, small kitchen appliances, stereos, mobile phones and other electronic items. Residents are asked to place items in their car or trailer and remain in their vehicle while friendly staff unload them in this contactless event.

Residents unable to attend are encouraged to take e-waste to the Penrith Community Recycling Centre, Gate 3, 96 Dunheved Circuit, St Marys, for free recycling year-round.
