PENRITH City Council has unveiled a plaque commemorating the late Doug Rennie OAM at the Kingswood fields named in his honour.
A long-time Kingswood resident, Doug was an outstanding soccer referee. Among his many achievements, he officiated international matches involving teams from Greece, England, Czechoslovakia and Mexico, as well as renowned clubs including Manchester United, Juventus and AC Milan.
In 2002, Council renamed Kingswood Park Oval ‘Doug Rennie Field’ to acknowledge Doug as a pioneer of the Penrith refereeing and broader soccer community.
In 2023, Council continued investing in the facility, opening new amenities including universal and inclusive change rooms, an officials’ change room, a first aid room, a canteen, storage areas and accessible toilets.
