Penrith Mayor Todd Carney and Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman MP at Clissold Reserve, Emu Heights – one of three playspaces upgrades open for community feedback.

PENRITH City Council is inviting the community to provide their feedback and ideas to help shape the upgrade of three playspaces in Emu Plains and Emu Heights.  

The playspaces include: 

• Gough and Lucas Street Reserve, 416 Lucas St, Emu Plains 

• Ausburn Reserve, 33a Annett Street, Emu Plains 

•  Clissold Reserve, Wedmore Road, Emu Heights. 

Penrith Mayor Todd Carney is encouraging the community to share their thoughts and suggestions for the upgraded playspaces. 

“I’m looking forward to hearing how we can make the playspaces in Emu Plains and Emu Heights modern and inclusive for residents, families and children to enjoy for many years to come,” Cr Carney said. 

“Your feedback is instrumental in ensuring the final design can bring communities together by supporting active lifestyles and social connection for all ages and abilities.” 

The $1.1 million upgrades to these three playspaces is funded by the Australian Government’s Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program and are being delivered by Penrith City Council.  

Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman MP said the upgrades would create better spaces for the community to connect, play and enjoy together.

“Local parks are a vital place for kids to play and for families and neighbours to stay connected. I was proud to secure the funding at the last election to upgrade these three parks in Emu Plains and Emu Heights, and now we want to hear from you.”

The Emu Plains and Emu Heights playspace upgrades were identified through the Sport and Recreation Strategy, Council’s 15-year road map for the future provision of sport, play, recreation and open space across the City. 

Community consultation is open until 11:59pm, 10 September 2026.
