Friends of NADO – Proudly Supporting National Carers Week

AUTHOR: Linda Wilson, Community Engagement and Sponsorship Manager, NADO Disability & Aged Care.

As part of National Carers Week, NADO Disability & Aged Care was proud to host our annual Caring 4 Carers Special Event last Friday, bringing carers together for an afternoon of appreciation, connection, friendship and recognition.

Held at St Marys Rugby League Club, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contribution carers make every day in supporting family members, friends and loved ones. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, fantastic entertainment, meaningful conversations, and the opportunity to connect with fellow carers in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Carers provide ongoing support, compassion and dedication to others, often whilst balancing many responsibilities of their own.
This special event was an opportunity to recognise their efforts, celebrate their contributions, and remind them that their role is valued and appreciated.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Belinda McDermott from Wellways for sharing valuable insights into the carer experience and information about the supports available through Wellways Carer Gateway.

The event was made possible through the generosity of our partners at St Marys Rugby League Club, Penrith City Council and our Friends of NADO program. Their ongoing support enables us to create meaningful experiences for the people who give so much of themselves in supporting others. We are incredibly grateful for their contributions and commitment to helping us give back to our community.

At NADO, we recognise that caring for someone can be both rewarding and challenging. Events such as Caring 4 Carers provide an opportunity for carers to take time for themselves, feel appreciated, and connect with others who share similar experiences. To everyone who attended, thank you for joining us and helping make the day so special. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon and look forward to welcoming you back again next year.
