ST MARYS Rugby League Club is proud to have been inducted into the Variety Bash Hall of Fame, recognising more than 26 years of support, fundraising and commitment to Variety – the Children’s Charity.
The recognition celebrates the Club’s long-standing involvement in the Variety Bash community, which began in 2000 when the St Marys Rugby League team first took to the road in the B to B Bash in Dodge Phoenix, Car 2760.
More than 26 years later, the Club’s connection to the Variety Bash remains as strong as ever, with Vice President John Burns and Director Mick Hilton proudly representing St Marys Rugby League Club at the 2026 Variety Backyard Bash.
Having participated in countless B to B and NSW Bashes, raising significant funds for Variety, Saints has delivered plenty of fun, generosity and community spirit to towns and communities along the way.
At schools visited during the Bash, the St Marys team became known for donating sporting equipment, from bags of gear and jerseys to goal posts, while proudly sharing their connection to the Rugby League community and our Club. In addition to sporting equipment, Saints is proud to have contributed more than $1 million in vital funding to support children in need within St Marys and local communities, over the 26-year partnership.
While the crews and cars have changed over the years, the Club’s commitment to Variety has remained constant. The Hall of Fame induction also recognises the legacy of the late Warren Smith, former President of St Marys Rugby League Club, a much-loved member of the Bash community and passionate supporter of Variety, whose contribution continues to be remembered.
Variety NSW/ACT CEO Tony Warner said St Marys Rugby League Club’s induction was a fitting recognition of its longstanding contribution to the Bash community.
“St Marys Leagues Club has been part of the Variety Bash family for more than 25 years, and their generosity, friendship and commitment to helping kids have made a lasting impact. They truly are a club with a big heart and incredibly deserving of their place in the Variety Bash Hall of Fame,” Mr Warner said.
“Being inducted into the Variety Bash Hall of Fame is an incredibly proud moment for St Marys Rugby League Club and everyone who has been part of our Bash journey over the past 26 years.
It is particularly meaningful to see the legacy of the late Warren Smith recognised as part of this honour. Warren was a passionate supporter of Variety and a much-loved member of the Bash community, and we are proud to celebrate his contribution alongside the many people who have supported St Marys’ involvement over the years”
