WORK to deliver a new Community Health Centre in Penrith has taken a key step forward, with the project’s lead design team appointed to progress planning and design.
The new purpose-built facility, delivered as part of the more than $1 billion Nepean Redevelopment, will be located at the existing Lemongrove campus in Penrith, providing contemporary, integrated healthcare services for local and surrounding communities, which are one of the fastest growing populations in Greater Western Sydney.
The centre will enhance access to a range of adult community health services, including HealthOne services and Renal Dialysis, and will bring together specialists, general practitioners, community health nurses and allied health professionals to help deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
The new Community Health Centre will complement the existing community-based health services delivered in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and will enable improved integration of services and long-term development of the site.
The lead design team includes architect (lead designer) Angel MahChut, project manager Lineaire Projects and cost manager Altus Group who were appointed following a competitive tender process.
The existing Community Health Centre at Lemongrove will continue to operate, while broader master planning of the campus is carried out to determine the future layout of the campus and ensure the site can support future healthcare delivery.
Staff and the local community will be kept informed as the planning and design process progresses.
Construction timeframes, including project completion, will be confirmed when the planning and design phase is complete and a builder has been appointed.
Minister for Health Ryan Park said the new Community Health Centre in Penrith will improve access to essential health services for some of our fastest growing communities.
“These integrated health services will help ensure people can see a GP, allied health professional, or a community health nurse more conveniently and closer to home,” Minister Park said.
“The Nepean redevelopment is progressing quickly, with the appointment of the lead design team for the Community Health Centre marking another milestone on the way to delivering better services for the region.”
Member for Penrith Karen McKeown OAM said the additional facility is another step towards delivering better healthcare closer to home for people across Penrith and our surrounding communities.
“The new Community Health Centre will bring together a range of essential services under one roof, making healthcare more convenient and connected for patients in need of care,” Mrs McKeown said.
“I’ve long advocated for continued investment in healthcare across Penrith, and I am pleased to see another milestone reached in delivering the facilities our growing community deserves.”
